Set Gmail as default email client in Firefox If you use Firefox as your browser, then you can adjust a setting in your Firefox preferences to enable Gmail as your email provider of choice. There’s no need for an extension, or to navigate to Gmail. If the OK button is clicked, the application will make changes to the email, contacts or calendar settings on the Mac to set Outlook as the default application for email, contacts and calendars.

Open Outlook.
On the File tab, choose Options > General.
Under Start up options, select the Make Outlook the default program for E-mail, Contacts, and Calendar check box.
Click OK.

On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Other tab.
